Well, thanks but i have already done the same thing. I was just wondering if there is an INI entry i had missed. I didn't find one in help but you never know...

You can use in place of
[=tc.writedate.D/M/Y h:m:s]
this
[=tc.writedate.D/M/y h:m:s]
and that will remove century from your date(20xx).

Hey, I managed to get it working as intended with something similar to the thread you posted, and the color change works flawlessly using Tab. I'm very happy, but there is one more thing I'd like to do, if it's possible. Can I tell TC to run a command upon the first click in the inactive panel? What I want is for the color change to go through both when I tab to the other panel and when I click into it. If this is beyond the TC command engine, that's fine; it's just icing on the cake. Still, I thought I'd ask your opinion.

Not to my knowledge.

FitzWM wrote:

Not with the Tab key, but you can use a shortcut for an em_command or a button for this.
That means, that whenever the active or inactive panel is called, the button must be clicked or the shortcut used.

In my opinion, there are only 3 restrictions on this topic that need to be considered:
1. With a mouse-click in the other panel can not be achieved that background colors will be changed (how should that work?)
2. The same applies to the Tab key
3. A consistency of the background color can be achieved, but only with the exception of the color for the column headings

See here: https://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=337453#337453 (detailed description!)

Well, I've already gotten it to work with Tab by creating this custom command:

Code:
cm_SrcViewModeList PaneI,cm_FocusTrg,cm_SrcViewModeList PaneA

where PaneI is the inactive pane view mode and PaneA is the active pane v iew mode. I then bound the command it to Tab, replacing the default behavior of, "Switch to other pane," with, "Change pane to inactive color, switch to other pane, change pane to active color." This works perfectly, and the color changes are so fast that they appear instantaneous to my eyes.

As to the mouse click, I'm not sure how it might be implemented. I suppose the program could detect the first click in a pane and allow commands to be bound to that event. I know that xplorer2 has an option to "eat the first click" in a pane, for example. But that could require rewriting the whole pane system, for all I know.

Subject: Drop down menu for external packers 32 v 64 Commander
Posted: Fri Feb 02, 2018 1:36 pm (GMT -6)

Hello there,

On the 64bit commander, in the Pack Files (ALT+F5) dialog, the external packers menu is not expanded. The menu is rather tiny and the list needs to be scrolled to find the needed packer.
The situation on 32bit commander is completely different. the external packers menu is fully expanded.

What controls this and how can I expand the menu on the 64bit commander?

thanks.

I think we talk at cross purposes. Did you mean a button?

For the above command, e.g. "cm_FocusTrg 4006 Focus on target file list" you need a button or an em_command with shortcut.
You cannot use the Tab key (left of the letter "Q" on the keyboard). Or do I understand anything wrong?

Anyway - if you have adapted the above example to your purposes, then everything is OK.

Is there a way to work with mapped network drive and, at the same time, be able to access system files in TC9.0a x64 on Win10 x64?

Yes. This works out of the box. Why are you asking? Do you copy system files from or to network drives/shares?

Hey Phred,

Which of the programs you recommend can do change many exif dates all at the same time?

You can use XNViewMP. It has EXIF date changing capabilities, to current time, by absolute date/time or by offset of any readable date/time. Also has preview of the new date/time values. Works on single or multiple selected files at once.

jpg-comment also works on multiple files at once.

I'm the only person who uses this computer (personal computer) and I absolutely hate having to "open as administrator".. I am the administrator!
How do i give myself the writing permissions.

I'm assuming its done by [Right click on Folder]>Properties.
Is there a way to open as administrator to EVERYTHING on my computer.
For instance, if I run a batch-file I don't want it to get stopped for no reason.

Sorry that was my fault for writing that you had to edit the usercmd.ini in TC's program folder - I forgot to take into consideration that you could have your TC installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)" or "C:\Program Files" - I have now edited my previous posting.

All good.

But.. Isn't "C:\Program Files (x86)" or "C:\Program Files" the default locations.. Why would you want to install it somewhere else? What benefit would that have? And wouldn't this result in needed to add or change your environmental variables to allow the program to run? (I think?)
I ask purely out of curiosity.

Hi guys,

Anyone know if there is a way to play around with the META data for music files?
I'm interested in being able to edit Filename, Song/Title, Artist quickly

and potentially something to do with playlists?

Cheers!

I'm asking because I prefer to use TC in "Run as Administrator" mode, so I need to click "Yes" button only once, at the start of the program, instead of clicking it each time when I want to visit folders like "C:\Windows\Temp\" or "C:\Users\NotMe\".

I've just found a solution from Microsoft: just create a DWORD (32-bit) value named "EnableLinkedConnections" in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" and set its value to "1". After restart of the computer, Total Commander and other programs that runs with elevated privileges will see the mapped network drive.

Until recently TC did not calculate the size of files to be copied or moved when I used the queue functionality, it started copying immediately.

This was a very useful when I didn't want to waste time with calculating thousands upon thousands of directories, but I could still use the regular copy method when I wanted to see progress (like when copying few but large files)

But now the two seems to be tied together, if calculation is enabled in options it will calculate for both, when disabled it will calculate for neither.

Am I missing something, is there a way to restore the old behavior?

Thanks

Subject: RegEx in file type definition window
Posted: Sat Feb 03, 2018 4:16 am (GMT -6)

I'd like to define a color by file type but enter multiple types for the same color. Instead for defining multiple entries with the same color for different file types, i instead tried (unsuccessfully) to use regex. Specifically the following two combinations:

Code:

*.xls<(x|m)
<(*.xlsx|*.xlsm)

Can someone please point me to the right direction? TIA.

P.S.: Help isn't much... helpful! Smile

Yeah, well, i don't know why i bothered with regex. A simple "*.xlsx *.xlsm" string did the job. I however would like to know how would this be done with regex. Haven't played much with regex, so some pointers would be great.

I tried the online RegEx tester because I have no RegEx knowledge.

https://regex101.com/
TEST STRING:                *.xlsx *.xlsm
REGULAR EXPRESSION:      "*.xlsx|"*.xlsm --> In TC: Everything must not be ticked!

TC-Search...-Alt+F7:         "*.xlsx|"*.xlsm --> with RegEx ticked, Everything unticked -> finds: *.xlsx *.xlsm

EDIT: Please consider the following as irrelevant - solution is below...https://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=337596#337596
-------------------------------------
Configuration - Options - Color - Define colors by file type... >"*.xlsx|"*.xlsm, Define: Search for: "*.xlsx|"*.xlsm
RegEx ticked, Everything unticked -> Save: "*.xlsx|"*.xlsm -> OK -> choose color -> OK -> >"*.xlsx|"*.xlsm(is displayed in blue)
OK, OK

Results:
- Excel files (* .xlsx * .xlsm) do not appear in color blue
- With RegEx I did not manage to color the files (but maybe the RegEx expression would have to be different?)
