I think nn1k3 is talking abut the plugin view provided by HTMLView or IEView. But I cannot see how to lock the view either.
EDIT: I found it. Since HTMLView/IEView uses Windows Explorer to show folders you have to change how Windows Explorer show things:
Open Windows Explorer (File Explorer in Win 8.1 / 10) and go into a real folder (not a library) for example on drive C: and change the display to your needs (right click an choose "View").
In Windows 7 click "Organize" (upper left corner)
In Windows 8.1 and 10 click "View" -> "Options" -> "Change folder and search options"
Click the "View" tab in the Folder options dialog and click the "Apply to Folders" button.
